Anyone ever heard of someone saying they had to "register their hands?"?

LOL I love to talk to people who say that they have had their hands %26quot;registered with the local police%26quot; and that if they hit someone, its assault with a deadly weapon! Anyway, I asked my uncle who is a detective for the Sherrif%26#039;s office near me and he laughed. I knew it wasn%26#039;t true but I still wanted to check. He said it probably came from the 80%26#039;s when all the Kung Fu movies came out, and now there are kung fu idiots running around everywhere that say they can knock you out without touching you LOL.

Anyone ever heard of someone saying they had to %26quot;register their hands?%26quot;?
it is totally fabricated. everyone has the right to defend themselves, whether trained or not. the way the innocent become the bad guy as well is when the attack has been stopped (by the initial offensive attack) and the person who was the victim keeps going to town on the guy. it went from self defense to assault, just like that. sux, and seen many a nice guy go to jail. the idea is to get in fast and hard, and leave them out cold or incapacitated as soon as you can.

resist the urge to chase them down.

if anything, we all drive cars, and those hands at the wheel are far more dangerous, and we dont register them do we. who%26#039;s the armchair net warrior who keeps downing everyone with solid and reliable answers? wow, get a life
Reply:We all drive cars, and those hands at the wheel are far more dangerous, and we don%26#039;t register them do we?

Excuse me? We are required to have a driver%26#039;s license! That is registration. Report It

Reply:Yea, I%26#039;ve heard that, heck I%26#039;ve been told that and laughed too.

Some of the trained fighters, armed forces can get into trouble if you use excessive force as judged by your state... but you don%26#039;t register. I guess I should be more clear, you do not register in the United States.

Wording is also important... was it a vicious punch or a controlled opened hand strike to slow the attacker down and give me a chance to....

I was asked that after you disarm a person can you shoot them with the gun. Wow.

Hey, would you have to register your elbow or foot if you art focused on those? What about if it was a grappling style? :)
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard it many times. So ridiculous. I%26#039;d like one of them to show up at the police department and say %26quot;yea uh... I%26#039;d like to register my hands as deadly weapons please%26quot; and watch them get laughed at.
Reply:i had a guy threaten me with a bat , and when I defended myself he told me I was in trouble. haha , he even asked if I had registered myself yet , because if not , I was in trouble for that.

I think he believed that if I was a black belt he was allowed to come after me with a bat , and I was compelled to take the whooping.

the other myth , at least here (let me know if you have heard this one) is that I have to announce loudly (three times) that I am a black belt before I am allowed to defend myself. Also not true.
Reply:Not true. In America, this practice has never been necessary. The rumors may have started with non martial art practitioners or because Professional Boxers must register their hands.

At one time in Japan, experts had to register their hand with local Police. Rumors also went around that U.S. Marines who studied martial arts in Okinawa had to register their hands.

I have been told the same B.S. story many time from people I have meet over the years. They tell me a friend or relative need to register their hands (and or feet in some cases) with local Police. I like to here there story then tell them there are FULL of CRAP! Then I tell them I have been into the martial arts for X-amount of years and who do you think you are talking too..some dummies? Then I tell them I have trained L/E and I am also have relatives who work in L/E.

So I hope this helps you out because it is not true what so ever.
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard that more times than I can count. I usually respond by pointing out that if my hands were deadly weapons, I would not be allowed in an airport. That rumor was circulating long before the Kung Fu movies, I don%26#039;t know how or when it started. Always good for a chuckle when someone asks me this question.
Reply:The island of Guam (US Territory) does indeed have such a very old stupid law that nobody takes seriously (Nobody ever registers)!

Get ready to laugh at this joke of a law:

Reply:I like when they say when they hit you it won%26#039;t hurt at first but in two weeks your internal organs will start bleeding inside. I always get a laugh from that.
Reply:You have got to be kidding me.... Once a guy decided to pick a fight with me after I told him he was a loudmouth and to shut his pie hole because he said pretty much the same thing. (Yeah , I know, not my best moment). He yelled %26quot;I%26#039;m special forces%26quot;, and threw a WEAKASS roundhouse kick to my side, that a small child could have blocked because it was so slow, and lacked ANY power. I started laughing my butt off because it was so funny, and he decided to try punching me instead. He used these ridiculous %26quot;punches%26quot; and I just kept blocking them and laughing, and eventually he backed off, and I kid you not, said %26quot;Had enough yet%26quot;? I was almost in tears because he was SERIOUS!!! Everybody watching this was laughing at him. He got mad and lunged at me, and I threw a simple, bargain basement front kick right to his gut, he dropped, gasping for air, and I went back inside and had a beer. Schmoes like that abound. I had a buddy who took some lame TV show martial art and got his butt kicked in a hurry. It was called Dux Ninjutsu. What a joke. I told him he was making a huge mistake, and he finally found out when somebody clocked him and he couldnt do a single thing to stop him. He had the %26quot;black belt%26quot; instructors showing him techniques that were at best dangerous, but only to the guy that tried to use the idiotic methods. Day 1 lesson. Was it how to stand, keep your balance, maybe move? No, it was some complicated sweep throw that didn%26#039;t even work right. Add into it that these supposed %26quot;black belts%26quot; would HIT you if they felt your form was off, and I knew he was in for a lot of money for no benefit. I took my free %26quot;lesson%26quot; he invited me to, and when the %26quot;instructor%26quot; hit me for something or other, I swept his foot, kicked him in the crotch and walked out. Lots of these %26quot;I%26#039;m a registered weapon%26quot; morons come from the same school of thought. If your that good, you don%26#039;t need to advertise, because your HEAD and MIND are what are dangerous. You learn to use them to avoid the fight in the first place. These guys are just looking to impress the easily impressionable.
Reply:In theroy your hands can be deadly if you know what your doing. the special ops. fighter has to be able to kill some one with one hit and do it in silence
Reply:yes, i think we%26#039;ve all heard the stories and yeah the BS meter tends to register a 10+++

as for the laws in new mexico, there is no registering your hands with the police, but if you take a self defense situation too far you can be cited for accessive force..

in other words if you%26#039;re attacked and kick to the groin and a palm heel to the nose is enough to get your attacker to back off and instead of retreating, you decide to use him as a kicking target, you will get cited for accessive force..

the only guy i remember having to register anything was a pro boxer and he registered with the national boxing association.. NOT the police........ c%26#039;mon people.. really..

~*smilez*~
Reply:I have a friend that is a U.S NAVY SEAL and i would say he should register his hands, he is also a blackbelt in judo.Basically a trained killer.
Reply:Thats kinda funny. I knew tis girl once who I was kinda into until she tiold me he had taken King Fu and had to register her hands. She said she had to be careful about how she touched her kids as well because she sould be locked up because she was so dangerous. But what was even worse was she was married at one time and got a divorce because the guy beat the heck out of her and he didn%26#039;t know any Martial art. I asked her why she didn%26#039;t use her Kung Fu and she said if she would have touched him she would have went to jail because she is so dangerous. I can%26#039;t believe people beleive this. it would be impossible to track down ever single black belt in the world and arrest them if they didn%26#039;t register
Reply:The best story I heard was from a pigion toed thumbless guy named Bud. This dude was classic, coke bottle glasses, sweatpants everyday and a first growth mustache. There is no way anyone could take him seriously. He was captain of the butt****s. I think he has hard times fighting colds let alone a full grown man.
Reply:I cannot believe that people don%26#039;t know where that came from!

It is a famous line from The Andy Griffith Show. Barney Fife said it while making karate type moves with his hands.
Reply:yeah some of them need to register thier hands with the wmaws?

commonly known as the world masturbating and wankers society.
Reply:LMAO!!!!!!!! I LOVE SuperSolid%26#039;s post! That stuff made me laugh so hard that my whole body is sore.

It feel so good to see those stupid martial artists get their *** kick hard.
Reply:Yes, actually.

When my father was in Thailand during the VietNam War, he earned his black belt in Song Mu Kwan Tae kwon Do.

He and the other black belts then had to go to the local Thai police station and get their pictures taken, and issued an ID card stating that they were martial artists/black belts/(?).

I came across the Thai police-issued ID card with his picture on it once while helping him to clear out some obsolete documents.
Reply:I know a kid that boxes.... he did not have to %26quot;register his hands%26quot;, but if he hits someone he can be sent to jail because they are considered deadly because he knows how to fight and has the capability of hitting lethally.. but he has also been in A lot of fights, so that could have to do with it....
Reply:You CAN register your hands as a deadly weapon if you have the credentials for such a title. No black-belt is obligated by any law however to register their hands. You can if you want to, but most people who do are asshats who want to show off/have the registration to show off. It%26#039;s a huge ego thing. Like I said, in summary, you don%26#039;t have to register your hands.... but if you want to look %26#039;impressive%26#039; you can.

What the best kung Fu flick?

I like the kid with the golden arm and Berry Gordy%26#039;s Last dragon. If you think Berry Gordy%26#039;s last dragon is not a good choice take another look. It had a lot of real martical arts scenes and it was funny too! Not to mention it%26#039;s an eighties flick and the eighties had some good movies.

What the best kung Fu flick?
Here are my top Few:

I) By far the very best: %26quot;The 36th Chamber of Shaolin%26quot; also known as %26quot;Master Killer%26quot; staring Gordon Liu.

II) The One (Okay, this is a sci-fi flick with Jet Li, but it shows Baguazhang and Xingyiquan Gung-fu fights. It%26#039;s cool)

III) Enter the Dragon

IV) Hero

Now if you just want an all round good martial arts film, try %26quot;Best of the Best.%26quot; I know it Tea Kwon Do, but some of the fight scenes are phenomenal and the spirit of the martial arts is well depicted. The sequel, Best of the Best 2 has some pretty amazing fight scenes as well, but where I would ay the first is more of a sports drama, the second film is without a doubt a martial arts film.

I hope this helps.

Reply:I like the Flying Guillotine series. Also, Kung pao, a spoof, but the funniest spoof ever of kun fu movies.
Reply:Kung Fu Hustle was awesome

Reply:I like Jackie Chan because he does all of his own stunts.

I like Steven Segal movies because he has a calm about him. He doesn%26#039;t show his emotion so you never know what he will do next.
Reply:Umm the only kung fu flick that comes to my mind is Kung Pow: Enter The Fists with Steve Oderick
Reply:i still liek teh game of death, or at least i think thats what it was called, it was teh one that Bruce lee never finished because he died while they were still filming, the parts that were filmed were relased, such as bruce lee vs. krameem abdul jabar.

%26quot;Only the Strong%26quot;

%26quot;Kiss of the Dragon%26quot;
Reply:Unleashed,Rush Hour 2
Reply:%26quot;The Kentucky Fried Movie%26quot;. The segment called %26quot;A Fistful of Yen%26quot; is hysterical. If you don%26#039;t want to sit through a sketch comedy film to watch that segment, then the best full-length kung fu movie is %26quot;Kung Fu Hustle%26quot;.
